Once furnace heat penetrates these voids during December cold snaps, the insects mistakenly awaken and emerge inside living rooms, crawlspaces, and kitchens.

Hardware store retail sprays break down under direct ultraviolet exposure within 7 to 10 days, leaving siding defenseless right when the main seasonal migration peaks. Professional management relies on microencapsulated, UV-stable residual pyrethroids applied directly to masonry bands, fascia boards, and window jambs, combined with insecticidal dust formulations injected into attic voids near Pepin Park and the Montana State University Northern Campus Area.
